Abraham & Sarah: A Story of Faith

Beginning — The Promise

Abram lived in Ur with his wife, Sarai, when God called him to leave everything familiar and journey to a land He would reveal. God made a covenant with Abram: he would become the father of many nations, and Sarai would bear him a son. Their names were changed to Abraham and Sarah as a sign of this promise. But the promise seemed impossible—they were old, and time kept passing with no child in sight.

Middle — The Struggle

As the years stretched on, doubt crept in. Sarah laughed at the idea of bearing a child in her old age. Abraham’s faith wavered. Instead of waiting, they tried to “help” God by creating their own solution. Sarah urged Abraham to have a child with her handmaiden, Hagar. Hagar conceived Ishmael—a child born from human possibility, not divine promise. But God reminded Abraham that Ishmael was not the son He had promised. The true covenant child would come through Sarah, in God’s timing, not theirs.

End — The Fulfillment

After twenty‑five long years, the promise finally came to life. Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac, the son God had spoken of from the beginning. Their laughter of doubt became laughter of joy. Through their journey, Abraham and Sarah learned that faith is not about forcing outcomes but trusting God’s timing. Their story shows us that even when we waver, God remains faithful. The promise will come—not by our striving, but by His word.
